Noticeboard

Peeks

“Ständchen" is filled with what could be called effects (feet on pebbles, hands rubbed together, humming, use of percussion instruments) but which never should be grasped as effects, and are melted into the classical form – a serenade in (until now!) four movements. - Bent Sørensen, Denmark.

Peeking in the programnotes

There are many reasons to visit the database of RE:NEW MUSIC. One of them is the programnotes - all the stories you get in there - about what inspired the composer,  about whats going on in the artistic process or attention to important effects in the music. You are welcome to visit the database!

More peeks

There is something of the nature of the virtuoso and of the fairground,
the tragic and the grotesque, pleasure in sound and inner trouble, an
inner trouble that will always be expressed with modesty - From Concerto pour violon by Cavanna Bernard, France.

From the Finnish repertoire

Ladies' Room is a song cycle for soprano and chamber orchestra. The texts of the songs are from the Bible, search engine Google (re-composed and manipulated by the composer), the Scotland Yard Archives, by Jutta Seppinen and Paul Celan... - From Ladies´ Room by Perttu Haapanen, Finland.

Events: Lost dream or rave party?

D’un rêve parti: lost dream or rave party? The SPECTRA Ensemble performs work by two composers with roots in the improvisation scene: ‘D’un Rêve Parti’ by Bruno Mantovani refers to a rave party whereas Alexandros Markeas’ ‘Zapping’ is a dialogue between a solo percussionist and his video-mirror image.  In ‘The tool from light’ by Grzegorz Duchnowski and in ‘Spiegelbilder’ by Isabel Mundry the russian bayan is the main instrument. Three works are part of the European RE:NEW MUSIC project. March 27, Jazz & Sounds festival, Ghent.
