“Ständchen" is filled with what could be called effects (feet on pebbles, hands rubbed together, humming, use of percussion instruments) but which never should be grasped as effects, and are melted into the classical form – a serenade in (until now!) four movements. - Bent Sørensen, Denmark.

Events: Quatuor Tana in afternoon Concert with Joanna Bailie, Max Savikangas and Philip GlassThis afternoon concert in Mons, Belgium will present its audience for three pieces for string quartet. The two pieces: Maito (1999) by Max Savikangas, for String Quartet and a reciter and Five Famous Adagios (2006) by Joanna Bailie are picked out from the RE:NEW Music database, and nominated by the Finnish ensemble UUsinta and the English London Sinfonietta. Events: Lost dream or rave party?D’un rêve parti: lost dream or rave party? The SPECTRA Ensemble performs work by two composers with roots in the improvisation scene: ‘D’un Rêve Parti’ by Bruno Mantovani refers to a rave party whereas Alexandros Markeas’ ‘Zapping’ is a dialogue between a solo percussionist and his video-mirror image. In ‘The tool from light’ by Grzegorz Duchnowski and in ‘Spiegelbilder’ by Isabel Mundry the russian bayan is the main instrument. Three works are part of the European RE:NEW MUSIC project. News: Record label creates quality download store for Danish composition musicFor the past seven weeks Danish composition music has been on sale as downloads at www.dacapo-records.dk - Denmark´s national record label spezializing in Danish classical music. Various digital formats are available for download both MP3 format, 16-bit files that have the same sound quality as a CD, and even in some cases 24-bit files that can provide a sound quality far above the standard of an ordinary CD. This is a great step forward for the circulation of new music across borders. |
