born in Warsaw in 1976, he studied composition with Marek Stachowski at the Music Academy in Kraków (diploma with distinction, 2001). He continued his studies with Peter-Jan Wagemans at the Rotterdam Conservatory (2001–02). His works have received several awards including the main prize in the category of compositions for string orchestra with solo instrument at the 2nd Andrzej Panufnik Competition for Young Composers in Kraków (2000) and an honourable mention at the Tadeusz Baird Competition for Young Composers in Warsaw (1997). He held grants from the Polish Ministry of Culture (1998, 2000, 2002), the Netherlands Organization for International Cooperation in Higher Education (nuffic) for postgraduate studies at the Rotterdam Conservatory, the ‘Warsaw Autumn’ Friends’ Foundation with funds from the Ernst von Siemens Musik-stinftung, the City of Kraków and the Marshall of the Podlasie Province. His works were performed at the ‘Warsaw Autumn’ Festival (2000, 2002) and the International Days of Music by Kraków Composers (1998, 2000, 2001). He participated in the International Summer Courses for Young Composers in Radziejowice (1997), the Course for Young Composers under the patronage of the Music Academy in GdaĆsk (1998), and the International Composers’ Course in Buckow nr Berlin (1999). In October 2002 he started to work as an assistant in the Faculty of Composition of the Department of Composition, Conducting and Music Theory of the Music Academy in Kraków.
