Kimmo
Kuokkala studied composition at the
Sibelius Academy under the guidance of professor Erkki Jokinen in 2000-2008. He
has also studied on summer courses with Jouni Kaipainen, Magnus Lindberg,
Esa-Pekka Salonen and Jukka Tiensuu. His works have been performed in the Ears
Open! Society’s concerts and the following festivals: Avanti!´s Summer Sounds,
Kamarikesä, Musica Nova Helsinki, PeriFÉRIA, SibaFest, Time of Music, Ung
Nordisk Musik (UNM). On these forums for contemporary music his works have been
played among others by Avanti!, Cikada String Quartet, Peräkammär, Tapiola
Sinfonietta, Tempera String Quartet, UNKO (New Young Chamber Orchestra),
Uusinta Chamber ensemble and String Quartet and VIVO Symphony Orchestra.
