13 works competing for this years Nordic Music prize

13 works are nominated in this year's prestigious, major Nordic music prize for works by living composers. The theme for the Nordic Council's Music Prize 2010 is "A contemporary work in which all involved play their own part".

Kaija Saariaho awarded Léonie Sonning Music Prize 2011

The Léonie Sonning Music Prize of DKK 600,000 is awarded
to the Finnish composer Kaija Saariaho. During the last quarter of a century, her works have confirmed time and again that she is one of the most outstanding composers of our time. A rare contemporary composer whose music is performed by, for example, the New York Philharmonic, at the Salzburg festival and by the world's greatest soloists.

Record label creates quality download store for Danish composition music

For the past seven weeks Danish composition music has been on sale as downloads at www.dacapo-records.dk - Denmark´s national record label spezializing in Danish classical music. Various digital formats are available for download both MP3 format, 16-bit files that have the same sound quality as a CD, and even in some cases 24-bit files that can provide a sound quality far above the standard of an ordinary CD. This is a great step forward for the circulation of new music across borders.

Croatian composer as president

Dr. Ivo Josipovic, Croatian composer and former Secretary General of the
Croatian Composers' Society, has been elected President of Croatia. Josipovic has up until now been the director of the Zagreb Music Biennale the international festival for contemporary music where the RE:NEW Music network were holding the very first grand meeting in april 2009.

New Project Manager for RE:NEW MUSIC

A new Project Manager has been appointet to lead the RE:NEW Music Project after Thorbjørn Tønder Hansen. We are happy to present Thomas Demidoff, who has been working for the Danish Broadcasting Corporation as the project manager of the classical music channel. The new manager will start January 25.

RE:NEW MUSIC at Artmusfair

The 2nd edition of the new music convention platform designed for composers and professionals from the European contemporary music scene opens in Glasgow/Scotland this week and RE:NEW Music is present there with a concert produced by Hebrides Ensemble and also joining the conference. Beat Furrer and Esbjerg Ensemble at SPOR festival

As the very first project within RE:NEW MUSIC, the Danish festival SPOR presented a thrilling afternoon Concert with music by the Austrian composer Beat Furrer on Saturday May 9th. After the concert, the curator and Danish composer Bent Sørensen, hosted an artist talk with Furrer about his work overall, with specific attention to Furrer's way of integrating the human voice and the sounds of everyday life into his music and musical thinking.
